It's great software as it is and has a lot of potential. Personally what keeps me using and loving PJ64 is the ability to disable the nagscreen. That's how angry fans and unofficial builds find popularity. But to lessen the experience in hope that some will pay to make it a better one, is not a good idea.

If you make something great, people love it, and donations can help offset the cost of hosting and development. I understand where you're coming from, the costs involved of hosting, time and effort etc, but emulation isn't the most profitable business. Everybody wins if supporters and users alike are given the best experience possible, and not cornered into paying up. A patreon or a non-obtrusive donate option in menu would be far better. Even WinRAR didn't force you to wait, and that's as closed source and commercial as it comes. Having a early-2000s-shareware-model nagscreen with a countdown in open source software is a bit of a strange move. If you're getting paid for other's efforts that also could have a negative impact on further community involvement as well. Anyone can help improve PJ64 with pull requests and whatnot, and they do it for no pay. Volunteering is a thing, and is the basis of lots of open source projects. I assume you do not work for free, do you? Why should I work for free? The source is also available if you want to work out how to remove it to. It does not cost much to support the emu. Yes there is a delay, but you still get to use hour and hours worth of work for free.
